Why did Jeffrey Dahmer photograph his victims?

The American Journal of Forensic Medicine and Pathology, written in 1994, claims that Dahmer photographed and engaged in it because he “wanted to keep them as souvenirs to keep him company.”

According to Biography.com, “he often photographed his victims at various stages of the murder process so he could recall each act later and relive the experience.”

Police also found sketches of plans for an altar in his home.

The serial killer admitted that he made his victims pose for photographs on a black table, which he planned to make part of his shrine.

Agent Rolf Mueller found about 80 Polaroids, all of which showed dismembered naked bodies in various poses.
